A Smile For Every Moment

I just realize i have not update the blog with assignments from my previous semester.

So here it is, I am gonna share with you the first project that my group members and I presented to a whole group of special guest who are prominent people from local motion graphics / advertising industry. (*Remember my previous post, 29 hours to go... where I wrote about how anxious, nervous and excited I was for my first presentation of the semester)

For this project, I've team up with under18carbon and pop to form Lucid. Teaming up with both of them is indeed a blessing. Working together on the project has been indeed fun and I really really miss pop's jokes session!

For this project, we are required to rebrand any "Buatan Malaysia" (Malaysian Products) products of our own choice. After a few meetings and discussions, the group finally decide to brand Cupcake Chic because of many reason and the potential for cupcakes to grow among local consumers. Based on our interview with the co-founder of Cupcake Chic and based on our market research on the products, 3 of us came out with a branding solution and a TVC (television commercial).

So here it is :

The Malaysian Coke Side of Life

Finally I finish my web design 2 final assignment!! That means I am done with Year 2!!!

WOOHOOO!!

Time really flies. It was as if it was just yesterday that I first step into this university and in just a blink of an eye, I finish my 2nd year of my bachelor programme. :D

Let's pray I don't fail any of my subject this semester and that means I still have 1 more year to go before I graduate for the second time!

Anyway, here are the print screen of my website. I am not really happy with the whole design but then again, with the time given and the limited ActionScript knowledge, I am just happy that it is done now. The requirements for this assignment is to create a website for a product that incorporates batik designs into it. So I've decide to create a Malaysian coke side of story with some international and a touch of local content and influence. Feedback appreciated.

This is the main page

The Malaysian coke design page where it showcase the limited edition design bottles with batik design on it.

This is an upclose of one of the 3 designs I've created. Check out my DeviantArt for more.

The music page. Very last minute content idea....maybe i should have change it to some local singers... ahahhaa

This is the football page where it has links to the clubs in the Coca-cola Championship UK.

This is the sequence of the animation for the preloader for the site which i forgot to present to my lecturers during my presentation last Thursday. :(

p/s: the red in the pictures above are a little out of Coke's red because of the image quality I save in.

OGFA?

They say, "TGIF!" (Thank God, It's Friday!) and I say, "OGFA?" (OH GOD! Friday already?)

I have not been a big fan of Fridays for the pass few weeks. (You'll know why if you have been a vivid visitor to my blog if you aren't, just read my previous posts =P).

According to the schedule, this should be my last Friday of torture and next Friday will be a ROCKING Friday!!! I'll tell you all about it next week :D

Back to my "creativity" life .... I had a week of torture - sitting in front of my 22" LCD working on my 3D character modelling not to mention the sleepless nights and how many times i screw up and have to redo the whole thing all over again. Seriously.... its not a walk in the park, its a trip to hell and back for me, but despite all that, I did enjoy the whole experience and gain a lot of knowledge through self exploration and trial and error! That's the most important part right? Enjoy what you do. The process might be a hard work, but the end results are all that matter to put a smile back to all the stress and pressure.

So here are the pictures of my alien-head-ChunLi to share. Pardon me for the screwed up face. other than that hope you like it:

Photobucket
texturing the patterns to the clothes with the boobs there is really hard

chunli08
this is the craziest part - 247 pieces of planes to build the hair

chunli02
i had fun putting make up on ChunLi :D

chunli03
i love her head gear - but the folds are quite ugly

chunli04
side view : do you just love the boobs and the butt? :P

chunli09
this is the tricky part: getting the skirt to flip and move as she walks

I would also like to express my gratitude to my friend Aaron for helping with the pose drawing of ChunLi.

THANK YOU!!!!!

So after 7 days of non-stop 3d-ing marathon and my sleepless nights, I went to take a nap just now and I dreamt about my 3D ChunLi! WTH right? I am actually dreaming about it! ahahhaha this is what i call - POSSESSED!

So stay tune for my next update on "Malaysian Coke Side of Story" .....

Heavenly Delights

For this weekend, I'll be working on my 3d character ChunLi which is slowly driving me insane!!!! (which means more stress and more sugar intake!!)

And Thanks to my brother, my sugar supply for the weekend has been saved by the heaven!!!

Why?

Because he sent me a box of heavenly delights!

YES IT'S THE JCO DONUTS!!

He dropped by my university yesterday morning to pass me 10 pieces of donuts and also the mouse that he help me to get from Low Yat! :D

LOVE YOU BRO!!!

Remember the ChunLi that's I've been ranting in my previous post?? Where I mention that I am about to fail? I think I am still at the brink of failing considering the amount of time I have left as well as how slow I model and not to mention applying the texture, skeleton, and animating the walk cycle as well as creating animated expressions! Anyway, here's a few screenshots of my  work-in-progress of it.

that's the head of the botak Chun Li. She looks like an alien to me :P

the ear itself has taken me 5 - 6 hours to model it....

and here's the wireframe of the whole body and the costume.

I wanted to share with you the model of the body but fear that I might be flag for pornography. =P  So.. its just the wireframe for now ok?

5 more weeks

Another 5 more weeks of endless work,
Another 5 more weeks of switching my brains to work simultaneously for 6 projects I have in hand (God help me please!),
Another 5 more weeks of endless torture,
Another 5 more weeks of sleepless nights,
Another 5 more weeks to 2 months holiday...............

It's May already... and this is what in store for me:

  1. MAY is going to be my crucial month of my current semester.
  2. My life is going to be turned upside down.
  3. My sleep time will be following different time zone almost everyday.
  4. I will look like a walking zombie.
  5. Coffee, sweets, chocolates and instant noodles are going to be my companion.
  6. I will definitely gain weight and more fats.
  7. I am going to lose my stamina more and making a 1km dash will make me pant like crazy....

Sounds scary right?

Ah I have no idea how i am adapting yet... but well..I think everything is going to be ok.  They say when you start to think positively, everything will turn out fine. I hope that is true! :D

Come what may, I shall endure!!

So, today, I made a trip to Carrefour at Alamanda, Putrajaya and bought myself lots of food for the next 5 weeks.
a jar of Chipsmore, a big packet of Julie's Peanut Butter Sandwich, a bottle of sweet crispy bread, a packet of 24 assorted sugarless iko biscuits, 10 packets of instant Holicks to mix with Oldtown 3-in-1 coffee, 5 packets of Shin Ramyun, 10 packets of Koka Curry Flavour Instant Noodles

I think this would probably only gonna last me less than 3 weeks... as for the last 2 weeks... maybe I will just chiak-chow lar.. hahhaha

Anyway, let me show you a work i am currently working on...

Sorry for the huge watermark on the picture because i am afraid that my work might get stolen or getting into some plagiarism stuff. Please understand because this is still a work in progress and I have yet to present to my lecturers....

The picture above is my interface for my intro page for my project for my subject, Web Design 2 where I need to built a full website from flash with ActionScript2.0. For this project, I was given a task to built a batik theme website for a product and also incorporating batik into the product. Initially, I was thinking of creating a summer fashion wear collection that uses fabric with batik designs... but after thinking over it, I found out that it is very cliché, and since a few of my coursemates are going for the fashion, I decide to come out with another concept. I wanted to be different and something no one in the class is doing (as always :P) and I decided to take a risk and choose Coke as my product. Designing is quite easy for me but scripting is a pain in the ass for me. Although I have some knowledge in programming language, scripting is just not my cup of tea. I am a right brain person, and analytical thinking (programming stuff) is super torturing! :'(

I have 5 other assignments and they are:
  1. a CGI movie (green screen stuff!! - another hard work)
  2. 3D modelling of Chun Li and making her walk (another hard hard work)
  3. a 20-30 seconds commercial in After Effects (squeezing out all my creative juice in my brain just for this assignment)
  4. interactive CD (i have to work with an A**hole bastard from another group who is making my life a living hell this semester)
  5. research report - still seeking for someone to let me interview .... (i am doomed!)

Anyway, that's for today. I will update some of my other work soon whenever I have time which i doubt it.

Wish me all the best and remember to keep me in your prayers ok? Thanks *grin*

Have a nice weekend!

I will post it up tomorrow. but these pictures below can be considered as together right? it a piece of work done, with lots of lots of shapes and textures combined together.

The Goddess of Water

She controls the power of water - the giant killer wave, the disastrous tsunami, the unpredictable monsoon, the deadly storm....

may i present to u... the Goddess of Water (not the final title yet)......

this is not my final version yet too... it is just a rough idea that i need to show my lecturer to get approval for my photo manipulation assignment. this is the 3rd version i am showing him in 3 weeks and today when i show him this goddess, he ask me what happen to my first initial concept which are technology and robotic. I told him i decide to change my mind and focus on water and nature instead of technology and gadgets. *crossing my fingers and hope that i won't change my mind again* there are still a lot of editing to do before the final version... such as the toning and the contrast....and making the whole thing look extremely cool and attractive as possible.

part of this assignment is to convey the message about how i see the world's environment revolution has changed our life - our daily living routine. well i would probably able to crap more if i were to stick to my original idea about technology and gadgets... but since i've decide to change my concept, i think i am still able to convince my lecturer to accept my new concept! Pray hard that i will do well in my presentation next week!

i won't reveal too much of my concept here.. for the fear that someone might steal my idea ... ahahah well actually the real reason for me to keep my mouth shut at the moment is, i wanna keep it a secret so that i can present a good presentation speech next week. so if u are interested to know more... you can check it out from my DA after next week if you are interested to know. i will be posting up the link here. so please bear with me at the moment and please understand my situation.

so i went online and stole a few Sam's (mentioning him again) water splash picture and i told him about my idea to use his water images to incorporate it to my assignment. he's cool about me using his pictures (thank you Sam) and i send him a copy of the above image and this is what i get from him in return:

he called it the Goddess of Atlantic.

It is freaking scary but no doubt it is a masterpiece of its own too :P and he did that in less than 5mins.

Btw, do you know who is that girl in my Goddess of Water version (not sam's version of course)?

this is supposed to be a happy post.. not a ranting post.. but then i can't help but to express how piss i am about how pathetic some people can be......

ps: i got this whole new concept/idea while i was showering! XD hehe

Children of Huang Shi

I am still excited ..................

Have you watch The Children of Huang Shi?

the movie is SUPERB~ not extremely superb or the movie of the year kind of thing... but the whole story itself is very nice, the mise-en-scene (staging, costume and make up, prop, lighting and the movement and lighting) especially was great. (i study cinema language... so pardon me. my lecturer must be so proud that i am even using the terms in my blog :P). The funny part about the movie is when George Hogg (Jonathan Meyers) speak mandarin. Not that I speak good mandarin myself, but i guess there are words that i do understand and it makes the whole movie real fun to watch. I had a good laugh at his slang and i know... i sound just like him when i speak mandarin. LOL! =D Furthermore, it is based on a true story of George Hogg and this makes it all even better. When i was watching the first part of the movie, when George Hogg witness how the Japanese was killing innocent chinese children, I was shocked just like George Hogg. He was trembling while he took pictures of it. And suddenly i ask myself, "Why didn't we, Chinese hate Japanese for what they did to our children?".

Ironically, many Chinese friends I know love Japanese stuff so much that they draw like anime and falls deeply in love with Japanese culture. Some even try to speak Japanese to Malaysians who don't understand Japanese and assume everyone in Malaysia actually knows it (do they think they are smarter?) . One of my classmates claim that he's such a pro-Japan that he watch every anime that are release and he's so proud about it ... It makes me wonder....they claim they know everything about Japan and their culture, do they know about that piece of history where they, the Japanese cruelly killed innocent children during those war times?

okie... let me stop ranting about the anime fan and japanese pro stuff... i can continue to rant and rant about it like there's no tomorrow or like there's no deadlines for my assignment... so .. i guess i better get back to reality and continue with my initial intention in mind about my blog for today... which is to talk about my drawing on Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Please drop by at my DeviantArt gallery [here] if you wish to see a larger version.

Drew that last night while i was watching Birmingham vs Liverpool match. I took less than an hour. I was so in love with that movie that i couldn't help myself to take some time away from my assignments to spend on drawing this handsome face. This piece of drawing is going to be on the wall beside my bed and i will look at it while i fall asleep every night!

So now that I am done showing you my own personal artwork for this week, I will continue with my work and hopefully i can retire to bed early today so that i can stare at my wall and fall asleep and wake up with a nice dream.......

PS: i am still excited! My soon to be new love!

Designer Bootcamp 01

First report from camp

Gosh! It is not even mid semester and i am walking around uni like a zombie already!!!

What happen?

i didn't get much sleep since sunday. Rushing Adam's research on sunday night, animating flour sac on monday night, colouring on tuesday night, and more colouring on Wednesday night (which was last night).

This is the outcome:
for a larger version go to gummyleen.deviantart.com

I sat in front of the PC for around more than 10hours last night just to finish up the artline colouring assignment. The artline is by Artgerm who is an artist that i admire alot! His work is amazing. You can check out his website at artgerm.deviantart.com

I had a tough day today since i only had 30mins of rest (which is also my sleep) last night. I had Digital Imaging (i went late) and then Illustration in the afternoon! A hectic hectic day especially when we have session with the Illustration lecturer cause there's alot of drawing sessions in his class.

I am all tired but energised by a can of Nescafe Mocha which i consume right before attending the drawing class and hence i was not as tired as i was in the morning at Elson's class where i can't even barely open my house while i am talking to my friends.

I continue the illustration and started doing light shading. I am not too happy about the final outcome, but since my lecturer is happy with it and he likes it (banzai!!), then i can't be bothered about my own opinion already lar....

lets take a peek of my drawing: (click here for a better image)

sorry for the lousy picture. Its from my HP camera.

My day did ended quite well... funny actually. had a funny dream about me launching a new line of KFC before dinner and then i saw this picture:

ROFL!

SERIOUSLY??!!!!

and there's even more....

CRAZYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

but i want!
